I first studied traditional Chinese medicine as practised in mainland China, and completed two clinical training courses in hospital in Shanghai in 1995 and 1997.
I subsequently studied Japanese acupuncture with Stephen Birch, assistant and translator for Japanese acupuncture master Yoshio Manaka, who taught me to use abdominal palpation for diagnosis and to manipulate the extraordinary meridians.
I continued my training in traditional Chinese medicine with some great acupuncturists of Taiwanese origin (Dr Young and Dr Tan), who taught me to treat pain on the opposite side of the body. Till his recent death, I continued to study with Dr Tan who is one of the great contemporary acupuncturists and teachers.
In 2008, I completed a training course at Dr Young’s practice. Dr Young had been assistant to Master Tung, a great acupuncture master who died in 1975.
I also studied herbs and formulas of the Chinese pharmacopoeia with Josette Chapellet-Lopez and Philippe Sionneau (2001-2002), then with the Shao Yang school (2004-2005) and finally with the Guang Ming school (2009-2010).
In 2019, I successfully passed the Swiss Federal Diploma in the Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Chinese Pharmacopoeia branch.
